How should I maintain my hardwood floor?

How can I reduce scratches and indentations in my hardwood floor?

A

To keep your hardwood flooring looking beautiful, there are a few measure that will help prevent scratches and indentations:

  • Use Floor protectors on the feet of your furniture
  • If you have furniture with casters, take extra care to ensure they have a minimum 1” width barrel type wheel
  • Never drag furniture! When rearranging your furniture, be sure to lift and not drag
  • If you have pets, ensuring their nails are trimmed or filed will help to reduce scratches

Cleaning your tile flooring isn’t unlike cleaning any other flooring or surface. When spills occur, promptly clean the mess with water and a clean, white cloth. Why is my new carpet shedding?

A

After your new carpet has been installed, you may notice that there is fuzz from the carpet or loose fibres that appear on the carpet or in the vacuum; this is normal! These fibres are leftover from the manufacturing process. Because these fibres are too large to become airborne, you can remove them with proper vacuuming, you should notice this “shedding” will begin to disappear within a year of installation.

How can I reduce the static from my carpet?

How can I reduce permanent carpet indentations?

You may notice an increase compression of your carpet pile in areas experiencing high foot traffic or from the weight of furniture. To help reduce these indentations, vacuum regularly or you can work the pile back with the edge of a coin.

A

Yes! Vinyl flooring is a great option for high traffic areas in your home or office. Additionally, vinyl flooring is great option for areas with high moisture levels, i.e. kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms and mud rooms.

Can I use floor mats on my vinyl floor?

A

To protect your vinyl flooring, and to keep it looking its best be sure to use care in selecting your floor mat; do not use mats with rubber-backing, latex-backing or coco fibre mats as you will risk discolouration or damage to the surface of your vinyl floor.
